This is a new venture for us and we’re aiming to raise £7,000 for our Voice of Image project which is helping young people to rebuild communities in post-war Sri Lanka – through photography.
Voice of Image trains young people to become photographers, then explore and capture the beauty and diversity of their suffering country. Their images are exhibited to a wide audience bringing together people who before were enemies. We need funding to pay for the costs of the project – like camera gear, training and exhibition space.
Being totally new and untested, producing a Crowdfunding campaign has been quite an experience with many challenges. They’ve included fights with our film editing programme which often decides to freeze! As well as negotiating time differences between England and Sri Lanka to speak to our partners and produce our film. Yet it has been inspiring to get to know the project so well and see the dedication of the project’s participants and staff in getting us images, films and information.
