When he was just ten years old, Lembaka’s father was shot and killed by an armed group. Hungry for revenge and fuelled by anger, he joined a rival group – leaving his family behind.
Lembaka spent eight years in the bush; his family came to believe that he too had been killed. But, after years of hardship and violence – and fearing for his own life – he escaped.
With the support of Peace Direct’s local partner in the region, Centre Résolution Conflits (also known as CRC) Lembaka was able to receive agricultural training. He learned about different farming techniques, how to maintain a healthy field, and how to manage crops in a sustainable, profitable way.
