Two billion people live in places torn apart by war. Two billion people are affected by violence every day, forced to make the impossible choice between fleeing or watching homes turn to rubble.

Two billion people face the daily struggle of surviving in a war zone. And if flying bullets don’t cause destruction, then the long term problems of famine and a lack of jobs can be just as deadly.

We are dedicated to changing this. To stopping wars, one person at a time. And we know from 13 years of tireless work that local people are key to the solution.

We know that to really solve these problems, we need to understand the roots. And to do this, we need to make deep connections to the places where these problems are, supporting the very people living, dying and rebuilding their lives there.

That’s why, today, we are delighted to announce the launch of our partnership with Away, a travel brand founded on the idea that the world is a shared place and the more connections made, the better.

Since Away were founded they have been supporting our work and our mission in all possible ways, helping make the world a safer, more peaceful place.

Dylan Mathews, Chief Executive of Peace Direct, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Away, a company that has put social values at the heart of their mission since day one. I hope that together we can inspire more people to support our mission, and make the work of local people building peace a truly global movement.”

To mark the launch of this long term partnership, we share an insight into our work around the world in a way you have not seen before.

Now, together, we take you to the heart of local people stopping violence through an interactive website, featuring powerful stories and compelling footage from projects in DR Congo and Nigeria.

We hope you take as much hope and inspiration from these testimonies as we do. They prove that when we build it together, peace is possible.
