At the end of the year we will be celebrating innovative grassroots peacebuilding efforts from around the world. In spite of it being a very difficult time for us all right now due to the Coronavirus, we are inviting organizations working in peacebuilding to apply for this award.
This year, we are focusing our search on one award category: technology in peacebuilding.
Is your organization, or an organization you know, making creative use of technology as a tool to resolve conflict and build peace? Whether it’s through mobile phones, websites, social media, radio, or another digital channel, we want to hear from you!
The winning organization will receive $10,000 and online promotion of its work. One person from the organization will be invited to the United States to receive the award at the annual PeaceCon conference in December in Washington, D.C., where the winner can meet other peacebuilders and supporters.
Joseph Tsongo is the founder of the Amani Institute, which helps former combatants in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He won the award in 2019 and said it helped bring international recognition to his group:
