This Friday the winner of the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize will be be announced. 2013 saw a record 259 nominations. Among the favourites are Malala Yousafzai (16 year old women’s rights activist), Sister Mary Tarcisia Lokot (a local peacebuilder working for reconciliation in Northern Uganda), and Claudia Paz y Paz (Attorney General for Guatemala, responsible for bringing former President General José Efraín Ríos Montt to trial for genocide).
