As President Obama meets African leaders in Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia this week, a coalition of 41 aid agencies have scrutinised his plans for countering violent extremism (CVE). A joint letter signed by the agencies (including Peace Direct) is published – as a downloadable pdf – below. It calls for more attention to civilian-led strategies rather than military responses.
