Maryam is the Head of Media and Communications at Bond, the UK network for INGOs, where she leads and drives Bond’s media and communications function to support UK INGOs and the wider international development and humanitarian sector. Maryam also leads the organisation’s work to decolonise and depoliticise the language used by the sector.
Maryam has over 15 years’ experience working in communications and media for INGOs and thinktanks on a range of issues including Official Development Assistance (ODA), migration, human rights and civic space, climate change, basic service delivery in conflict-affected states and ending child marriage.
Maryam has a master’s in international development and communications from City University and an LLB Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sheffield. She is also a trustee for the International Broadcasting Trust.
