David has been the Director of the Baring Foundation since 2003. The Foundation is one of the UK’s best known independent funders, giving grants on social justice issues in the UK and in Africa. Before that David has worked for a number voluntary sector organisations both at the local and national level. He is a trustee of the Equally Ours, a civil society collation on equalities and human rights and has been a board member of a number of charities including Amnesty International UK and THET (the Tropical Health Education Trust which links NHS organisations to health centres in the developing world).
