In a unique fundraising project, this month Peace Direct has helped launch the world’s first competition for digitally created fine art. The new Lumen Prize Exhibition will showcase a cutting-edge art form, promote art in conflict-affected countries – and donate its profits to Peace Direct.
The launch was welcomed by our Sri Lankan partner Dishani Jayaweera, who uses the arts in her peacebuilding work, and hopes to welcome a touring exhibition of the Prize to Colombo. Other conflict countries will also be toured, as well as America, China and the UK.
The competition will also seek out the work of digital artists living in conflict zones and will therefore accept free entries from some conflict-affected countries.
First prize in the competition is $3,000, and all entries will be shown online. The winners will be announced in October.

Entries can be submitted from 15 May and close July 31 2012, at www.lumenprize.com. They must be created on a computer, smart phone or tablet.
