Youth Action for Peace – Programme Evaluation
September 2022
This evaluation report reflects on the Youth Action for Peace Programme (YAPP).
The programme was co-created between Peace Direct and five local youth organisations across four, conflict-affected countries. Over three years, local partner organisations distributed small, flexible grants totalling $1 million USD. These grants supported 218 youth peacebuilding projects. The programme prioritised a flexible funding model, supporting innovative projects designed and led by young people.
The initiative was developed in response to the UN Security Council Resolution 2250. The resolution called for a greater role for young people in peacebuilding efforts. Peace Direct believes that people who are directly affected by conflict are best placed to design and deliver solutions. This is only possible if they have the resources, decision-making power, and the space to do so.
Peace Direct thanks our local partners AJCAD, CDA, HIVE, NPCYP and URU for their enduring, inspiring, and courageous work, to build sustainable peace, and support local, youth peacebuilders.
The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) funded this programme.
