Its official – we’re in the middle of a heat wave!

The weather’s unpredictable at the best of times and we never know how long the sun will last, so making the most of it is essential. By the end of the weekend, supermarket supplies of charcoal and burgers will be exhausted, and cider sales will be through the roof. Welcome to the British summer.

Here at Peace Direct, we’ve donned our shorts and shades and come up with a few ingenious ways for you to raise crucial funds for our peacebuilding partners whilst you soak in the summer sun:

  1. Picnic for peace – Picnics always work best if everyone brings a dish, so why not host one with an entry charge for charity? You could ask everyone to bring something savoury or sweet and then donate anything from £5 to £50 – depending on the quality of food and type of friends you have!
  2. Charity char grill – Why not invite your family and friends round to a barbeque? You could supply the hotdogs at £2.50 a piece, with the profit going to charity!
  3. Summer wel-fair – Everybody loves going to a fete in the summer, but you can just as easily create one in your back garden! With a few sticks of bamboo and some elbow grease you could have a coconut shy and a hoop-toss up and running in no time. Then you could charge £1 a game and watch the money roll in…

If you’ve any other ideas of how to raise funds this summer, or you’d like to try one of ours, please get in contact and we’ll send you some materials to help you describe us to your friends and family: [email protected]
