A new campaign for locally led development, Local First, launches this month at the House of Commons in London, UK. Local First is an approach to international development that prioritises the views and leadership of people and organisations in the countries affected, over those of outsiders from the international community.
The campaign launches on 28 November, with the publication of ‘Local First: Development for the Twenty-First Century’. This is a book of case studies of successful locally led projects in conflict affected countries. There is also a dedicated website, www.localfirst.org.uk, which aims to develop a community of practice and knowledge around Local First ideas.
