The territory of Beni is located in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the province of North Kivu. For several years, the region has experienced its own share of conflict, often resulting in violence. Some groups, such as the Allied Democratic Forces, have been known to stir up conflict, however identifying instigators of violence remains a grey area.

COP26 – peacebuilders tackling the climate crisis

This summer, the UN issued  a ‘code red for humanity’ in a report on climate change. At the end of this week, the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) takes place in Glasgow, a global event to accelerate action to tackle climate change.

Envision’s story

In Zimbabwe, our partners Envision Zimbabwe Women’s Trust continued their work in 2020 in spite of the challenging environment for civil society organisations. Working with the police, they have been helping to reduce violence and increase awareness about COVID-19.

Lotsima’s story

In Eastern DRC, we are working with Centre Résolution Conflits (CRC) to support their ‘Peace Gold’ initiative. CRC has been working with two artisanal and small-scale mining cooperatives since 2017.
