Join us on 4, 5 or 6 December from 10am and watch your donation to Peace Direct double in size and impact.

The big idea

The Big Give Christmas challenge is run every year and is designed to double every donation that is pledged to Peace Direct. From 10am on 4, 5 and 6 December, every individual online donation that is made is matched, meaning that your money goes twice as far.

The big challenge

The challenge of the big give is in the timing. The matching funds are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis – which means that the sooner you get online and begin donating, the more chances of securing matched funding and doubling the value of your money. When the matched funds have run out on the first day – which is likely to be within the first 30 minutes – online donations will close until 10am the next day.

The big money

At Peace Direct, we aim to raise a total of £30,000. With £15,000 from you, our supporters, we will receive the same in matched funding and create a total of £30,000.

With this money, we can continue our life-saving programmes. Last year we received 37 donations. Because of these donations we helped –

• 947 young Pakistanis to learn how to resist religious and political extremism.
• 695 rebels in DR Congo to leave the fighting, return to their communities and rebuild their lives in peace.

The big advice

What to do on the day:

• Get online as soon as possible from 10am to secure matched funding before it runs out for the day.
• Have credit/debit card details and relevant passwords ready.
• Enter your donation – straight away you will be told if your donation has been matched. If it has, the system will hold your matched funding for 10 minutes while you  enter your card details.
• If you are not being told that your donation is matched, keep refreshing the page until you see that matching is available – and then donate.  Keep trying for 10 to 15 minutes.
• If after 10 to 15 minutes it hasn’t worked, don’t worry.  The challenge is open for three days, so you have plenty of time to come back tomorrow to double your donation.
