The Government of Israel’s retaliation to the killing and hostage-taking of over 1,000 Israeli citizens on October 7ᵗʰ was a dramatic escalation of violence against Palestinian civilians.
Many thousands of Palestinians have been killed in Gaza; hundreds more in the Occupied West Bank. Tens of thousands have been injured across Israel and Palestine, and thousands more remain trapped under the rubble.
1.8 million of the 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced. Churches, hospitals, mosques, refugee camps, schools, UN compounds, have been destroyed.
Peace Direct has joined over 700 organisations urging our governments to pressure all parties into a #CeasefireNow. Over 1 million people have since signed the petition, and millions more have added their voices in protest. Yet, only a handful of governments have called for a ceasefire and the renewal of political dialogue – the only viable way out of the crisis and towards long-term, sustainable peace.
This is unacceptable. Join us as we call on all governments to demand an immediate #CeasefireNow.
