Locally led Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) is a guide of tools and approaches developed in partnership with local peacebuilding partners and collaborators, known as the Local MEL Reference Group (LMRG). For three years, Peace Direct and the LMRG piloted decolonial approaches to MEL, evolving our approach as we went along.
Designed for peacebuilders, development practitioners and community activists: Our step-by-step tool will guide you to build and develop MEL approaches that are decolonial by design – that are responsive to peacebuilders’ needs and contexts, and seek to re-centre the voices, concerns and knowledge of local communities and peacebuilders. The recommendations may be applied to variety of settings, including international development and Global South-led community development and humanitarian work.
