Each of our peacebuilders has a vision: that people in their community can live without violence or fear. And each of them has a practical plan to make that vision a reality.
Each of our peacebuilders has a vision: that people in their community can live without violence or fear. And each of them has a practical plan to make that vision a reality.

At Peace Direct we share their vision. We seek out local peacebuilders - people like Henri, Dishani and Ashima - and we give them the funds and facilities to make it happen.

In each region, the people we fund know that peace will come not from fighting but from working inside the communities in conflict.

They know how to make it work and they want to make it last, because those communities are where they live and where they raise their families.

With our support, they work to remove the root causes of conflict - the prejudice and hatred that trigger violence.

They break down the barriers between groups. They offer alternatives. And they give local people the skills and knowledge to take control of their lives.

Our approach to building peace is practical, local and vocal. We find local people who are already achieving change. We fund their practical plans to expand their impact. And we promote their extraordinary achievements as an example for others worldwide.
Security is the most basic human need. Local peacebuilders restore security to communities and help them move forward.
Why do we do this? Because we picture a world where communities are not shattered by fear and hate, where families live in homes not in camps, and where children carry schoolbooks not guns.
