Carolyn Hayman OBE, Chief Executive
Carolyn Hayman has been involved in the development of Peace Direct since 2002 and is now Chief Executive. After a career in DFID and the Cabinet Office and in Venture Capital, she joined the Foyer Federation as Chief Executive in 1997. Over the next seven years she grew its turnover eightfold. She served as a Board member of the Commonwealth Development Corporation from 1994 to 1999 and in 2003 was awarded an OBE for services to young people. carolyn@peacedirect.org
Mohamed Osman, Head of International Liaison
Mohamed Osman joined Peace Direct in January 2005; he has broad experience in community level conflict transformation. Mohamed has worked with various development agencies, both local and international in Kenya. He has an MSc. from the London School of Economics in Social Policy and Planning with a focus on developing countries, complex emergencies and management of NGOs. Mohamed is a member of ACTION for conflict transformation. mohamed@peacedirect.org
Lucy Ashken, Insight on Conflict Project Manager
Lucy Ashken joined Peace Direct in August 2006. She has active experience of organising community volunteering projects in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Croatia which has provided her with excellent insights into practical grassroots peace building. She has an LLM in international law specialising in conflict and human rights from Sussex University. Lucy manages the Insight on Conflict web database. lucy@peacedirect.org
Susanna Bennett, Individual Giving Co-ordinator
Susanna Bennett joined Peace Direct in August 2006 having completed a BA Open degree with the Open University during which time she studied modules in International Development: Challenges for a world in transition, Religion in history: Conflict, conversion and co-existence, and Philosophy and the Human Situation. Susanna is responsible for all aspects of Individual Giving. susanna@peacedirect.org
Hannah Pennock, Truce 2012 Project Manager
Hannah Pennock joined Peace Direct in July 2007. She has experience as a conflict resolution trainer in schools and prisons in South Africa and London and has volunteered as a community mediator in Tower Hamlets. She also spent time working for local government where she gained insights into project management and partnership working. She has an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics where she focussed on peace and conflict issues. Hannah manages the Truce 2012 project - a partnership project with two other conflict resolution charities; Conflict and Change and Leap Confronting Conflict. hannah@peacedirect.org
Robert Mathers, Head of Finance and Systems
Robert joined Peace Direct in May 2008. Robert qualified as an actuary, and has spent several years in various finance positions, working both in the UK and overseas. He is responsible for the financial and HR systems, administration and supports the Chief Executive in governance matters. robert@peacedirect.org
Roderick Cobley, Fundraising Assistant
Roderick joined Peace Direct in July 2008. After gaining a degree in Political Science & Social Policy, Roderick went on to obtain a D.Phil, writing his thesis on International Relations. He has since worked for charities such as CND, Unlock Democracy and the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Northern Ireland. Roderick identifies trusts and funds which may support PD’s work and prepares bids to them. roderick@peacedirect.org
