What Makes Peacebuilding Effective: Linking Micro to Macro

18th -19th November 2005, Coton House, Rugby

The central focus was on the different dimensions of conflict: from the personal to the global. The events in London on the 7th and 21st July 2005 clearly exposed the need for interconnections, and the actual and potential conflict that exists here in the UK. The conference explored links between conflict resolution and peacebuilding in different settings, with an emphasis on action by individuals and groups.

Our session leaders, who include Charlie Irvine (Questions of Difference founder) and Sue Williams (Consultant, Collaborative for Development Action) will provide fascinating insights from which to begin the processes of discussion, reflection and learning. You will meet stimulating people. You will have the chance to hear from others and share your own experiences. You may be inspired to take action and if so, the conference will give you tools and contacts. Establishing links and connections is one of the ways forward.

The Conference will bring together people:
• who have an interest in conflict here and overseas
• who currently focus on local peacemaking
• who specifically want to form or be linked with a group in an area of conflict
• whose links were not originally related to conflict, but where conflict is an issue
