Greenbelt Festival talk

Carolyn Hayman spoke to 150 people at the Greenbelt Festival on Saturday 27th August 2005. Greenbelt is a Christian arts festival, bringing together 20,000 people. It serves many purposes, but one is to give people, particularly church leaders, 2 or 3 ideas to try out over the coming year. There was interest in the link group initiative, and in the idea of Christmas collections in aid of Peace Direct's first Rapid Response Fund.

Carolyn's talk was thought to be very inspirational, and questions included a discussion on the role of Government funding. Peace Direct has a long term objective of increasing the amount of Government funding going into peacebuilding initiatives, but it needs to be the right kind of funding - long term, and responsive to the priorities set by local people.

These are some of the pictures children drew about peace at this event following Carolyn's talk.
