PD CHAIR TO SPEAK AT HISTORIC DEBATE

oxford debate

On 7th February 2008 the Oxford Union will be celebrating 75 years since the infamous occasion in 1933 when they proposed and passed the motion "This House Would Under No Circumstance Fight for King and Country".

The debate of 1933 is the most famous in the Union's history and has remained integral to its philosophy of free speech and enlightenment through discussion and argument.

75 years later the motion will again be debated, with Chair of Peace Direct Scilla Elworthy speaking for the motion.

We shall publish excerpts from her speech as soon as the debate has taken place.
