Conflict Resolution Award: Nominations open
If you have passion, commitment and a cause worth fighting for, but lack the necessary tools and training, the Sheila McKechnie Awards are for you.
They honour campaigners across a range of fields with winners receiving unique pro bono packages of support and for the third year running Peace Direct is proud to sponsor the Conflict Resolution category.
The Sheila McKechnie Awards are committed to equipping under-resourced and novice campaigners with the skills needed to make their voice heard and achieve positive change. Whether you are working towards peace in the Middle East or you’re running a community project on stopping gun crime, the Foundation can help you make that extra impact.
The awards commemorate the life of Dame Sheila McKechnie, a dedicated and effective campaigner, who spent much of her life championing change. Sheila empowered individuals to recognise and assert their rights, and made governments and businesses understand, embrace and respond to the issues she campaigned on.
Peace Direct Chief Executive Carolyn Hayman commented, “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Conflict Resolution award for a third consecutive year. Previous winners have all gained so much from the training received and it’s vital that people at the forefront of conflict resolution get the skills they need.”
Programme participants receive 1:1 mentoring; opportunities to meet and shadow senior decision makers; and coaching sessions with experts in their area.
Applications for the 2008 awards are now open. For more information on the programme and how to apply, please contact Miranda on 020 7770 7892, email awards@sheilamckechnie.org.uk or visit the Foundation’s website www.sheilamckechnie.org.uk
