JOHN HEGLEY NIGHT RAISES THOUSANDS
Peace Direct's Champions project in Colombia is over £1,500 better off after a brilliant fundraiser headlined by poet and comedian John Hegley.
An Evening Of (not all) Laughs which also featured Carole Satyamurti and Diego Brown and the Good Fairy took place in London in October in aid of the Women’s Escuela in Cali. In a country besieged by decades of violent conflict and gross human rights violations, every year the courageous Escuela empower and educate hundreds of women in non-violent resistance.

Peace Direct has supported the Escuela through its Champions Programme since 2005.
Event organizer Doro Marden commented,
“John Hegley had such rapport with the audience, Diego Brown and the Good Fairy sang weird and wonderful songs and Carole Satyamurti chose her poems that were particularly about women and war to read. The finale with John's friend Andrew Bailey involving spoons and ping pong balls was surreally comic.”
Peace Direct would like to thank all the performers on the night for donating their time and talents. Thanks also to Doro for arranging such an enjoyable and rewarding evening.
