A gift in your will

Remembering Peace Direct with a gift in your will is a way of giving long term support to local peacebuilders working on the frontline of conflict. Monies from your legacy will be put towards Peace Direct’s Rapid Response Fund, emergency money that is released following urgent requests for help.

Rapid Response Funds

In conflict every second counts. It can mean the difference between life and death. Local peacebuilders need resources to respond the moment violence breaks out. Peace Direct’s Rapid Response Funds do just that. They’re deposits of money in position, on the ground, so local peacebuilders can respond immediately to conflict flashpoints. As violence erupts every second can be crucial in containing the fall out.

Rapid Response Funds in Action

Peace Direct currently operates two Rapid Response Funds one in Kenya and one in Nepal. £15,000 is annually designated to influential peacebuilders in each country to be used in response to an ever changing situation.

Rapid Response money played a crucial role in containing the post election violence in Kenya. £200 was all it cost to bring the bloodshed and destruction in one district to a halt. Read the incredible story here.

What your legacy could mean

£500 is the average cost of an intervention to halt violence, and enable people to find their own solution to a conflict

£5,000 could enable a women’s delegation to attend peace talks.

£15,000 would pay a year’s running costs for a new Rapid Response Fund in another ‘hot’ conflict area such as Sudan or Eastern DR Congo.
